Cristina Stanica
Associate Teaching Professor of Public Policy and Administration; Graduate Program Director, Master of Public Administration program and Master of Public Policy program
Cristina Stanica is an Associate Teaching Professor of Public Policy and Administration. Most of her teaching is in critical core courses that support the MPA and MPP programs, in particular Techniques of Policy Analysis and Principles of Public Administration, as well as electives such as Comparative Public Policy and Administration. The central theme of her teaching is active and practical engagement and learning, based on the principles of experiential, democratized, and interdisciplinary learning, inclusivity as part of a global mindset, and critical thinking. She explored New Public Governance practices in Central and Eastern Europe and is interested in administrative and rules burdens in street-level bureaucracy, coproduction, and trust in government.

She has been working in the higher education industry for over 8 years, and is passionate about helping students achieve their educational goals.

Mark G. Henderson
Professor of Public Policy
Mark Henderson teaches courses in public policy, environmental studies, and Asian studies at Mills College, now part of Northeastern University. His research focuses on social and environmental policy problems in the United States and China, often using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). He has supervised over 200 graduate students working on community-based policy projects and now serves as the Oakland, California research director for Northeastern's Community to Community (C2C) Impact Engine. He previously taught at UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and Lanzhou University, China, and was a GIS analyst at MassGIS in Boston and at the U.S. EPA's National Environmental Research Laboratory in North Carolina.

Christopher Bruell
Teaching Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice
Professor Bruell’s research and scholarship focuses on Evaluation Research, Intersectionality and the Criminal Justice System, and the Role of Social Support in Criminal Offending. Formerly, he held a position with the Commonwealth of MA’s Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, working in the Research and Policy Division of the Office of Grants and Research. While at the Office of Grants and Research, he was involved in a study looking at the recidivism of sex offenders in MA and ME, as well as the evaluation of MA’s Homeland Security Strategic Plan. He also managed data related to sexual assaults in the Commonwealth and was a member of the state’s Statistical Analysis Center.

Julianne Hawks has 15 years of experience working in higher education admissions. As an enrollment specialist for Northeastern University’s CSSH programs, Julianne is passionate about assisting students through the admissions process with a graduate program that aligns with their career objectives. Julianne holds a bachelor’s degree with double majors in fashion design and fashion merchandising and double minors in studio art and business administration from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.
